ANZAC Day Memorial Service April 2021

On Sunday 25th April 2021 we held our annual ANZAC Day Memorial Service at King's College in order to commemorate Old Collegians, staff members and fellow New Zealanders who have died in service to New Zealand whilst also honouring returned and current service men and women, past and present. This year the King's College ANZAC Memorial Crosses were installed on the lawn of the main quad and provided a particularly somber reminder of just how many young men from King's College gave the greatest sacrifice whilst serving our country. The KCOCA purchased new crosses in 2019 and each cross now bears the name of one of these young men. It is a special day in the King's College calendar and this year we were very pleased to welcome back to King's College, Old Collegian and one of our first girls, special guest speaker for the ANZAC Day Service, Judge Sarah Reeves (Marsden 1980) who spoke on the Māori response to World War One and how little is known about the role and action of Māori soldiers during World War One. Those attending were in for a particular special treat as the 'Last Post' and 'Reveille' were played by none other than our own King's College Headmaster, Simon Lamb.
