Thank you to everyone who joined us for the recent KCOCA 2024 Reunion Weekend celebrations. It was a weekend full of heart, during which a large cross section of our different reunion groups spent time revisiting the King's College campus, where they enjoyed happy moments reconnecting with old school friends; as well as time spent with teachers, staff and current students and on a wider note the extended Old Collegian community. The weekend kicked off with the Friday night KCOCA Cocktail Party featuring signature cocktail 'Heart of Glass' created by mixology group @goodspirits and inspired by our beautiful new Performing Arts Centre – Toi Manawa, the heart of the arts at the College. Band, Off the Wall, keep us entertained and dancing late into the night. As part of the evening, we were delighted to present long serving College staff with Honorary Membership to the KCOCA. This is a recently new tradition that has evolved out of the 2022 change to the KCOCA constitution. It is wonderful to be able to celebrate and acknowledge the contribution these long serving staff have made over the course of 15 or more years to the lives and education of so many students and to present these staff with their Honorary Membership in front of some of those past students. In addition, we were privileged to welcome special guest Dan Carter to present our First XV with their rugby jerseys in preparation for the King's vs AGS match the next day. Dan delivered an inspiring message to the Fisrt XV: - "Recognize the hard work you have achieved to get here, but also recognise the privilege of the position you are in, a position many others would wish to experience. Walk tall - even when things get tough." Saturday was all about rugby and reunion groups. The day began with the KCOCA 'Beer & Bite' rugby lunch in the student dining hall, followed by the historic Cooper Greenbank Cup match, the day continued with 'Decade On' Reunions which were held across Auckland city. The weekend concluded on Sunday with the 60 and 70 Year On reunion groups re-connecting at Cornwall Park. We extend our thanks to all those involved in the organisation and execution of the weekend activities and events and would like to mention the following Reunion Group venues: @baralbert.auckland, @geromeparnell, @nonsolopizzaparnell, @saint_alice, and @thechamberlain and lastly @cornwallpark.bistro. |
