Boat naming for Old Collegian and Gold Medalist - Daniel Williamson(Averill, 2016-17) - August 2022

The King’s College Rowing community came together on Sunday 21st August to celebrate the fantastic rowing achievements of old collegian Daniel Williamson (Averill House, 2016 -17) by christening the rowing club’s newest eight, the Daniel Williamson. Daniel was a member of the NZ Men’s eight who won gold in impressive fashion at the Olympic games in Tokyo in 2021.

In his last two years of high school, Dan and his crew mates earned four gold and 2 bronze medals at the Aon Maadi Cup, including gold in the coveted U18 pair while Dan and his partner were only 16 years old.
 
Daniel represented NZ at the 2017 Junior World Championships and 2018 U23 World Rowing Championships where he won a silver and bronze medal respectively.
 
His love for rowing has not just turned into a career but has taken him to fantastic places around the world. Daniel is currently studying and rowing at Yale University in the US where he has one more year to complete.
